The UTS Library project focusses on the amalgamation of the university campus to create one contiguous community within the urban context of the Ultimo Creative and Educational Precinct [UCEP].

In reconceiving some of the conclusions of the metadiagram I decidied to think about the concept of enclosure.

Geographically the various buildings that make up UTS’s city campus are nodal in their dispertion.  I descided to incorporate this idea into the design of the library  offering users their own study enclosure.    These enclosures were intended to take on the personage of the user by use of lighting effects and electronic identification systems that could log users movements thorughout the library facility and link them with other users.  The essential element to devlop was networking

The mechanical pods have been conceived of as steel framed structures with a lightweight cladding applied.Detail of isolated pod component

The building structure could be either solid (cast in situ)  with steel sub structure or entirely steel framed with lightweight cladding and insulation.
